Districts Save with the Trust
The recent $800 million cut to education has forced school districts to search for modified health insurance plans to fit their current budget needs. Many school districts in Wisconsin are choosing to stay with or switch to the WEA Trust as the provider for employees in their district. These decisions were made as a result of a competitive bidding process resulting in WEA Trust proving to be the best value. Several of the many examples include:
School District of Omro
Working both with an insurance broker and the WEA Trust directly, the Omro School District crafted a solution that meets their needs and will stay with the WEA Trust for their employees’ insurance.
Mukwonago Area School District
After bidding out health insurance, the Mukwonago School Board decided to stay with WEA Trust as a health insurance provider for teachers in the district.
Germantown School District
Germantown went to several major carriers to receive quotes, but only two companies bid: Humana and the WEA Trust, which was the district's current carrier. The School Board voted to stay with the WEA Trust.
Kenosha Unified School District
Kenosha Unified School District, which recently chose the WEA Trust as their group health insurance provider expects to save approximately $3 million by choosing the WEA Trust.
Marshfield School District
The Marshfield School District is new business for the WEA Trust. After a competitive bidding process, the Marshfield School district will save $850,000 by switching from Security, their previous provider, TO the WEA Trust.
Appleton Area School District
The Appleton Area School District also went out to bid and found the Trust offer to be the most competitive. Appleton’s premium decrease issued by the Trust this year was years in the making and was a direct result of the districts’ improved experience, which the Trust helped to create.
West Salem School District
The West Salem School Board voted to switch to an experience rated health plan, still under WEA Trust.
Shorewood School District
Based on a competitive bidding process, coming down to WEA Trust and United Health Care, officials in Shorewood voted to stay with the WEA Trust as it made the most economical sense.
School District of Reedsburg
Moving from pool-rated to experience-rated with the WEA Trust helped save the Reedsburg School District several hundred thousand dollars. In this instance, the WEA Trust outbid Dean Health Plan for the district’s business.
New Lisbon School District
After going out to bid, New Lisbon also recently deemed the WEA Trust the best value for their school district.
Other school districts that have brought new business to the WEA Trust health plan include:
- School District of La Crosse
- Friess Lake School District
- De Soto Area School District
- School District of Denmark
- Gibraltar School District
- Kewaunee School District
- School District of Marinette
- Oakfield School District
- Oconto Unified School District
- River Falls School District
- Cedarburg School District
- Darlington Community School District
- Sturgeon Bay School District
- Seneca School District
This is only a partial listing of schools saving money with the Trust.
The WEA Trust offers lower rates in many school districts as a result of our significant efforts to control and reduce costs over the last five years, as well as working with districts to develop plans that place a greater emphasis on immediate savings while understanding that this may impact long term stability in pricing.
