Seasonal flu vaccinations
Who can participate?
- School district employees, spouses, dependents, and retirees who have WEA Trust coverage as their primary health insurance are eligible.
- If Medicare is your primary insurance, regardless of where you get your shot, you must use your Medicare card and the provider must be able to submit your claim to Medicare on your behalf. The Trust will coordinate benefits with Medicare.
- Bring your WEA Trust insurance card or Medicare card with you when you get your flu shot.
Where can I get a vaccination?
- A community-sponsored flu event
- Your doctor's office
- At a WEA Trust-sponsored school district flu clinic (All district 2008-2009 flu season clinics have been completed; please check back in October 2009)
The Trust offers FluShotFinder, an interactive Web page to help members find flu shot clinics and information at school districts throughout Wisconsin. Members can search by county, date, or school district.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recognizes that school administrators, teachers, staff, and parents are concerned about the flu, particularly its effects on children. The single best way to protect against the flu is to get vaccinated each year. To make it easy to get a flu shot, the Trust sponsors flu vaccination clinics for school districts that participate in our health plan.
Why should I get vaccinated?
- Lessens your chances of developing serious complications if you do get the flu—approximately 36,000 adults die each year in the United States from flu.
- To reduce the risk of becoming ill with influenza or of transmitting influenza to others.
