Diabetes care (Kids)

Learn how you can help your child maintain control of his or her diabetes by enrolling in our Kids In Control! pediatric diabetes program. This program is geared towards parents who have children with diabetes. It offers you the opportunity to work one-on-one with a registered nurse from the Trust who can help you:
- Understand what you can do to keep your child healthy.
- Maximize your WEA Trust health benefits related to diabetes.
- Work with your health care provider to ensure your child's care is consistent with nationally recommended treatment standards.
- Monitor your child's diabetes to avoid complications.
- Understand how eating and exercise affect diabetes.
- Track your child's condition with recordkeeping tools.
- Coordinate your child's care with school staff.
The Trust is here to complement your existing health care and to provide information you need to make educated health decisions. We understand that you may have questions that can't wait for your next doctor's appointment. That's where we come in. A registered nurse with experience in pediatric diabetes care will act as your program coordinator. Together, you'll develop a program specific to your child's needs. Members who complete the health coaching will be offered incentives to assist with their child's diabetes management.
Can I participate?
Your child must be 17 or younger with diabetes and have a WEA Trust health plan as his or her primary insurance.
