Paying for long term care

So who pays for long term care? Typically, it’s you. Neither your health insurance, nor disability insurance, nor Medicare is designed to cover long term care services.

Assistance is available through the government-funded Medicaid program, but there are strict rules governing eligibility. Generally, families must tap their own financial resources to pay for long term care before Medicaid kicks in. Click here for some general information about long term care and Medicaid.
