Specialty Pharmacy drugs

Effective May 1, 2006, Caremark Specialty Pharmacy became the Trust's provider for specialty medications, which are biotech injectable or oral medications that may require close clinical care from a health care professional.
After May 1, 2006, we will no longer reimburse you for specialty medications if you receive them from a retail pharmacy. We are making this transition because of the added clinical assistance and support you will receive from Caremark and to better use your drug plan dollars.
To start or transfer your prescription to Caremark Specialty Pharmacy, simply follow these steps: - Call CaremarkConnect®, available 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at (800) 237-2767.
- Identify yourself as a WEA Trust health plan member and say you need to obtain a prescription from the Caremark Specialty Pharmacy.
- Caremark Specialty Pharmacy will contact your physician and take care of the appropriate paperwork.
- Or, refer to the enrollment section on Caremark's Specialty Pharmacy page.
You will receive follow-up calls from Caremark to remind you when it’s time to refill your prescription (for your safety, these drugs are limited to a 30-day supply), check on your therapy progress, and answer any questions you may have. Your medication will be delivered in temperature-controlled, secure packaging to a location you specify at a time when you will be available to receive the medication. |
