WEA-MedPlus eligibility for non-Trust health plan members

If you’re covered by a non-WEA Trust group health plan when you retire, you and your spouse must:
- be 65 years old, but not yet 66.
- be enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B.
- have no dependent children for whom you want coverage.
- be insured by an employer-sponsored group health plan.
In addition, you or your spouse must be a member of WEAC-Retired (and remain a member to continue to qualify).
When can I enroll in WEA-MedPlus?
Your window of opportunity for enrolling in WEA-MedPlus is between the ages of 65 and 66. However, if your spouse becomes eligible after you become eligible, you can delay your enrollment until your spouse becomes eligible. If you work beyond age 65, you can still enroll in WEA-MedPlus until 90 days after the date you retire.
For more information on WEA-MedPlus, call the Trust at (800) 279-4000.
For information on joining WEAC-Retired, call Karen West at WEAC at (800) 362-8034, Extension 270. |
