It’s been 50 years since WEA Trust was created to provide insurance and benefits to Wisconsin’s public-school employees. It was 1970 when the Trustees held their first board meeting and with $5,000 in seed money borrowed from the Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC), WEA Trust began operations with just one employee.
We celebrate this anniversary with great joy and admiration. WEA Trust has supported Wisconsin school districts and public employees for half a century and in doing so, have continuously put the needs of our members first. Through our ups and downs, it has always been our goal to serve those who serve Wisconsin to the best of our ability.
This legacy would not be possible without the dedication provided by current and past WEA Trust employees. I thank you for your tireless work effort and the commitment that you have provided throughout the years—none of this would be possible without you.
On our anniversary, I look towards the future of WEA Trust. I see the ever-changing healthcare landscape, new solutions to the marketplace and better ways that the healthcare system can work together. I am excited for new innovations and advancements for WEA Trust, while continuing our partnerships and obligation to public employees while never forgetting the power of a friendly Wisconsin “hello” when someone answers the phone.
Thank you to Wisconsin school districts, teachers, support staff and public employees across the state. You are the reason why Wisconsin is such a great place to live and work.
To WEA Trust staff, be proud of the service and commitment that we’ve provided to members across the state for the last fifty years and look forward to an exciting and impactful future ahead.
