Get Top-Rated Care at Significantly Lower Costs

At the Trust, we rigorously analyze our network to identify high value providers. If you choose Smart Choice MRI for your medical needs, we guarantee you will receive high quality care at a fraction of the cost.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a helpful medical tool, when it’s medically necessary and appropriate. But the average cost of an MRI in Wisconsin is $2,500 and can be as high as $4,400. In contrast, you’ll pay no more than $600 for an MRI at Smart Choice MRI.

In addition, your scans are produced and read by leaders in the industry. Smart Choice MRI is accredited by the American College of Radiology and has garnered an “A” rating from American Imaging Management (AIM). Scans are read and interpreted by radiologists at Cleveland Clinic, recently ranked among the country’s top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report.

Access Preferred Lunchtime and Evening Appointments

We believe that value providers should be affordable, high quality, and truly accessible. Smart Choice MRI has six locations in southeast Wisconsin and the Fox Valley that offer you preferred appointment times to work with your schedule.

You can have early-morning, evening, weekend, and in some cases same-day appointments. Most appointments are only 45 minutes long, with a minimal wait, if there’s a wait at all. And if you’re driving, you’ll find plenty of convenient parking at all Smart Choice MRI clinics.

Earn a $100 VISA Incentive Card

FAQs

What to Expect Before Your Exam

Dress for your scan. Wear comfortable clothes without metal zippers, metal buttons, under-wire or metal of any kind. When possible, leave all jewelry and other valuables at home. Don’t forget your insurance card!

What to Expect During Your Exam

An MRI is the best way to non-invasively scan the human body. It does, however, require you to be still while it scans, and the machine can be noisy when running. But don’t worry you will be provided earplugs or a headset so you can listen to your favorite songs from Pandora® or Spotify®. All you have to do is lie still and relax.

During your exam, the MRI Technologists will be close by to make sure you’re comfortable and let you know exactly what’s going on.

What to Expect After Your Exam

Once your MRI scan is complete, you’ll receive a CD with a copy of the scan for your medical records.

Within 24 hours, your doctor will receive the scan results from a Cleveland Clinic radiologist along with a copy of the scan.

Don’t forget to grab a freshly baked cookie on your way out!

What type of MRI Machines are Available

All Facilities are equipped with closed MRI Machines. The closed MRI scanner is the most accurate MRI there is.

The difference between an open MRI vs a closed MRI

The difference between an open MRI vs a closed MRI is actually quite simple but first, let's talk about the closed MRI. A closed MRI is a machine that takes detailed images of your anatomy in a narrow cylindrical container normally spanning a bore diameter of 60 cm. Depending on the level of strength of the magnet used (also known as tesla) for your MRI study, the procedure can sometimes last up to 90 minutes or more.

An open MRI was created to offer an alternative to patients who either have symptoms of anxiety or suffer from claustrophobia or obesity due to the enclosed-nature and duration of study normally attributed to closed MRIs. While the open MRI excels at providing comfort, it does not provide the same level of detail as a closed MRI at this time. See an example of a closed MRI on the left and an open MRI on the right.
